The fifth political detainee to die this year is named as Aaron Khoza (35) of Kagiso, Krugersdorp. He was detained on 9 December, and transferred to Maritzburg, where he died on 26 March. The Natal security police chief was quoted as saying that as far as he was concerned, Mr Khoza had hanged himself in his cell.

Mr Khoza was buried in Kagiso on 2 April. He was member of the Young African Religious Movement, a church group on the West Rand which has been giving material and moral assistance to people and families who have suffered death or distress as a result of police action during the 1976 uprising. He is believed to have been detained last November.
