According to information just received, two prominent members of the Black People's Convention have been served with banning orders, one of which is an effective banishment order. * Dr. Mamphela Ramphele, is head of the Zanempilo Clinic near Kingwilliamstown, set up as a BPC project. She is also a trustee of the Zimele Trust, set up to help released political prisoners. From August to December she was held in detention under the Internal Security Act. Dr. Ramphele has been served with a banning order in terms of which she is banished to a remote village Naphumo beyond Pietersburg in the Northern Transvaal and over 1,000 kms. from her home. She was taken there by the Security Police and left with no belongings. For accommodation and work she has been directed to a local clinic but Dr. Ramphele is said to have refused to accept this. * Mxolise Mbvovo, acting presedent of the BPC, banned and restricted to Kingwilliamstown.
