The trial of BENJAMIN CHRISPUS VULENGA (24), charged under the Terrorism Act with intent to break law and order in Namibia, opened on 26 April in the Windhoek Supreme Court. Adv. T.J. Frank, appearing pro deo for the accused, told the court that Vulenga had asked for a postponement because he wished to procure his own defence.
Vulenga had first appeared before a Magistrates Court on 12 December 1976, and again before the Supreme Court on 16 February. 26 witnesses were present for the opening of the trial, including one who had been detained.
