- Anderson JOYI, member of the Transkei National Assembly representing Paramount Chief Dalindyebo, was issued with a banishment order (an individual removal order issued under the Native Administration Act of 1927 and applicable to Africans only) on 31 March requiring him to leave his home in the Mputi location near Umtata and settle with his family in the Mtingwevu location of Cofimvaba district. * Chief Bangilizwe JOYI, chief of the Mputi location was also banished on 31 March and is required to settle at Mahlungulu in the district of Qumbu. Both men were detained under Transkei Security Laws in September together with 16 others from Mputi, and released on 3 March. It is not clear under which piece of Transkei legislation the banishment orders have been issued.
