The trial of Enoch DUMA (36), a journalist, and Aitken RAMUDZULI, a teacher (24), on several counts under the Terrorism Act, continued in the Johannesburg Regional Court in late February. Both men pleaded not guilty to four charges under the Terrorism Act as well as to alternative charges of sabotage. They are alleged to have furthered the aims of the ANC between April and September, 1977, together with five co-conspirators. On 24 February Enoch Duma, a journalist on the Johannesburg "Sunday Times", made a written statement to the court, in which he said he opposed violence although his work may have brought him into contact with people involved in violence, but that he did not knowingly assist any of them to commit unlawful acts.
