Themba Harry Gwala and eight other men who were jailed for between 7 years and life in the Pietermaritzburg ANC trial in July 1977, have been given leave to appeal to the Appellate Division in Bloemfontein against their conviction and sentence. The trial judge had refused leave to appeal.
