Two persons formerly associated with the Black Consciousness movement are reported to have been re-detained in preventive custody under Section 12 b of the Internal Security Act. They are Malusi MPUMLWANA who is banned for a second time, and Mxolisi MVOVO, former vice-president of the BPC who has been banned, detained, released, unbanned for medical reasons and re-detained and was recently acquitted on a charge of inciting racial hostility. Both were detained in August

Mpumlwana and Mvovo are both from East London. They are the only two persons currently in ISA detention. On 25 May the then Police Minister Jimmy Kruger told Parliament that there were then no persons in preventive detention.
