Three persons formerly connected with trade unions in South Africa had their five-year banning orders lifted in September. They are Eric and Jean TYACKE and Loet DOUWES-DEKKER. All three were active in the Reef-based Urban Training Project, an educational service for black trade unions. They were banned along with 20 other trade unionists late in 1977. (FM 21.9.79)

In addition, the name of Lucas S. PHILLIPS has been removed from the list of persons banned as officials of the Communist Party of South Africa in 1962, according to a notice published in the Government Gazette (RDM 16.10.79)
