The "amnesty" offered by the South African armed forces in Namibia to persuade SWAPO combatants to return to the territory has been extended for a further six months until 31 August 1981. According to an announcement from the Administrator General, 103 former SWAPO guerillas have turned themselves in since the amnesty was introduced in January 1980. The amnesty has since been periodically extended.
