Ian Msekeli MGIJIMA (30), a student who was studying journalism at Rhodes University and who was convicted in September last year on two counts under the Internal Security Act, had his 5 year sentence reduced to one year after appealing against the sentence.

Mgijima had been found guilty of engaging in acts on behalf of the ANC, of informing Rhodes students of the aims and workings of the ANC, of distributing ANC literature and of possessing ANC and SA Communist Party literature.
