The Ovambo administration has dropped its attempt to deport Ms Kaino KOVANEN, a Finnish nursing sister, from Namibia. Following two attempts to implement deportation orders against her, the Ovambo tribal authorities then threatened to withdraw the annual subsidy paid to the Evangelical Lutheran Ovambo-Kavango Church (ELOC), Ms Kovanen's employers, unless she was transferred out of Ovamboland to another part of Namibia. The Church normally receives an annual subsidy of R220,000 for health services rendered in the bantustan.
